Left to wonder what you've done to be thrown away
Feeling the tears as they begin to well up inside
Fond memories left to fade like the dying light of day
Forcing a smile so no one can see the hurt, the pain
Left standing outside looking back and looking in
Feeling naked cold and afraid in the freezing rain
Lost, alone and scared you'll never smile again
Unsure of the future but a past filled with regret
Knowing the present looks bleak, dismal and arduous
The kind of empty and painful you want to just forget
Love was fleeting and trust turned out to be tortuous
Head under water and drowning in a sea of misery
Grabbing at any lifeline available to you and praying
Adrift in a landscape of pain awash in your own agony
Hearing the words but not understanding what they're saying
Don't worry, I've been there too and that pain goes away
It seems impossible that it ever will or ever can
When you get tossed aside it feels like your darkest day
But the sun shines again, even on me, and I AM the invisible man
